All students/families must complete the following before an admissions decision can be made.
A fully completed application.
Admissions committee reviews the application (Campus Director, Director of English Acquisition (EA) program, and Director of Student Life) and determines if an interview will take place. If an interview will not occur, the family will be notified of the Admission committee’s decision not to move forward.
Following an interview, a student may be required to take an English language proficiency test as part of the admission process.
Once the interview and English language proficiency test is completed, the admissions committee will meet to decide one of the following:
● Decline admissions to VAIS
● Request an additional interview
● Grant admissions to VAIS with an indication of EA or High School program
Minimum age is 13 and maximum age is 16 by June 1, 2022. All students must complete the VAIS high school program before their 20th birthday, preferably by their 19th birthday.
The English Acquisition Program accepts up to 10 students each year. A higher English language fluency will place a student ahead of other applicants.
Grade 9 accepts up to 10 students each year. High English language fluency is required to enter the VAIS High School Program.
Grade 10 accepts up to 5 students each year. Full English language fluency is required to enter the VAIS High School Program.

A student who has completed Grade 7 in China may enter the English Acquisition (EA) program for a minimum of 1 year, and if appropriate English language fluency is attained, move into VAIS high school grade 9.
A student who is age 14 and has completed Grade 8 in China and has extremely high English language fluency, as determined by our English fluency language exam may enter Grade 9 without needing to go through the EA program.
A student who is age 15 and has completed Grade 9 in China and has a full fluency in English language as determined by our English fluency language exam, may enter Grade 10 without needing to go through the EA program. Transcripts from grade 9 are required.
Academic or EA Program Fee - US$17,000 per student.
Boarding Fee - The cost (rent, food, activities, staffing and other small items) of boarding is shared among all families divided equally. VAIS estimates US$500 per month/per student or US$6,000 per year per student. This is billed monthly and may vary according to inflation and or other cost adjustments that are necessary.
In addition to the transportation, visa, insurance, and other expenses that the students need to bear, the family needs to make financial preparations of about US$22,580 to US$25,800 per year for each student.
VAIS does not offer tuition discounts, even if multiple students from the same family attend VAIS.
All the above policies are renewable each year and parents should expect an increase in fees between 3% - 7% annually.
Application will start on January 10, 2023, and interviews will be arranged one after another until the quota is full. All applications will be closed before May 31, 2023.
